Great French food and a byob makes this a great dinner spot in Ardmore. The food was excellent, the staff was friendly and helpful. The atmosphere was great for dinner with friends.
Our first visit for dinner to A la Maison Bistro was delightful. The ambiance reminded us of Paris and the service was exceptional. All courses were very good. When one member of our group was dissatisfied with something, the wait staff very graciously brought a replacement, which was wonderful. We plan to visit Maison again and will also try it for lunch.
We have been going to A La Maison for many years. I have always enjoyed the food but my husband started to get bored with it. The introduction off several options on the special menu is very welcomed. It is always nice to have the real taste of France.
Excellent as always!! We loved the 2 additional special seasonal menus.
A La Madison has stood the test of time and is a great bistroon the Main Line!
If you are looking for a Fabulous meal with the special details on all courses, you need not look further. This is a ** 6 star restaurant with fabulous food, a terrific wait staff and some of the best chefs on the MainLine.
Had a lovely lunch of creative, authentic crepes stuffed with crab, sauteed spinach, mushrooms and roasted cherry tomatoes. Charming, accommodating waiter and kitchen for my lactose intolerance issue.
Quiet and great for conversation at lunch in a spot decorated to make you feel like you are in Provence.
Specials were excellent, but pricey. Crab au gratin and Dover sole were our choices. $44 for crab and $38 for sole. BYOB helps hold down overall prices though, but if you want conversation with friends go when no entertainment when a hefty $10/head is charged. We were there on a Saturday night with no entertainment. Would definitely go back as food, preparation and service were all excellent.
Really enjoyed the entertainment.....along with great authentic French style foods. I was in a party of 5 and we were all very pleased with our choices.
As usual, good food and a nice atmosphere. Love the music, BUT... since everyone comes around the same time, service (ordering) and food delivery were very slow. Nice that you can bring your own wine, but dinner without coffee and desert was still quite pricey.
Overall nice experience (I love Alberto, the busboy (man?) and we will return.
Great little BYOB restaurant in Ardmore, PA with excellent French cuisine and live music...
One person in our party had Celiac disease and must be strictly gluten free. The server was clueless and couldn’t make many suggestions on which menu dishes could be made Gluten Free
The prices are high but once you see the presentation and taste the freshness of the ingredients, you will feel it is definitely worth every penny!
Used to be good. No idea what happened. Won’t be back
Jazz music on Wednesday very good. $10/person cover well worth it. The food is good with many choices.
Cod dish did not have much flavor. Hostess wore jeans and a non descript sweater.
Excellent shrimp and scallop entree.
Our waitress gets the Palme d’Or. Sweetness and accuracy in describing the entrees and constant attention. Three cheers for Belarus.
While we have eaten here many times, we were disappointed with the jump in entree prices for specials. My husband’s entree was very dry (coq au vin).
Overall very good. While it isn't inexpensive, it was worth the money. The food was good to very good overall. The mussels, steak, frites and onion tart were all nicely done and good tasting. The only letdown was the soft shell special - they were soggy and not as crisp as I would have liked. But they were a special and not something that they cook on a regular basis. Everything tasted fresh and full of flavor. And if you don't know what to order, try the mussels with the blue cheese and bacon. That with some bread and frites will more than satisfy you! (It will also shoot your diet for a week - but this is not the place to go if you intend to keep on your diet!)
Flat Ballet Black Women’s renae Zoe Rachel The service was spot on and the ambiance was fine. Unfortunately, the restaurant was nearly empty at 6 PM on a Thursday night - I hope they are doing well because they have certainly put in the effort and do provide a very nice dining option in Ardmore.
The food was very good, however the waitress was really rude and impolite. I didn’t feel comfortable during the service. She was completely disrespectful.
If you want to get hit with a $10 PER PERSON service charge for live music after you have made a reservation, taken the trouble to travel there AND YOU ARE ALREADY SEATED, this is the place for you. If you want to be seated near the kitchen or the bar or near the front door after making a reservation many weeks ahead, this is also the place for you. Food was outstanding, service was all right, but psychologically one is worn down and just not in a mood to enjoy after these initial surprises. This used to be a sure-fire wonderful evening, but it has diminished greatly in overall quality, and my expectations, despite the excellent food, are now such that I will look elsewhere.
Ballet Zoe renae Women’s Rachel Black Flat The only glitch was that my husband ordered the duck roulade special and instead received sliced breast of duck.
This was my second time at this place. The first time was ok and I refrained from writing anything bad but this time I just couldn’t bare to not say something. Thank goodness I didn’t have anywhere to be. There were like 4 older to elderly couples inside the restaurant and upon arrival, me and my guest were not greeted. We had to ask if someone was going to help. We sat outside and after getting one cappuccino and one water were ignored for about 20 minutes despite being told by the server she would be right back. My date went in to get the server who had to be persuaded to come outside to take the order, as if she was going to give her our order right there at the host stand. Anyway, the entire ordeal took over an hour and a half of this back and forth. I couldn’t even bring myself to look past the horrible service and give a decent tip. Never again going back to this place despite the food being good if you don’t find hair in it (first experience I chose not to write about) after the first visit.
Lovely evening with wonderful service and food in a warm attractive setting
Excellent as usual!
We've dined here at least two dozen times over the years. It never disappoints. The food and presentation is superb and always excellent. The menu features not only French standbys but incredibly creative daily specials. There happened to be a server shortage due to an emergency the night that we visited but the owner, Mr. Ted Miller threw himself into the fray and waited tables. He could not have been nicer and helpful.
Zoe Black Flat renae Rachel Ballet Women’s This BYOB restaurant is a hidden gem right in the heart of Ardmore, PA. The special were absolutely amazing, so many to select from. I want to keep this a secret so not too many people go but that would be totally selfish. Loved, LOVED the food and the service.
Food was great. Our waitress was less than stellar, however, we can live with average service. The part that was frustrating is that we were each charged $10 because their was entertainment and weren’t made note of it until we already sat down and ordered. This isn’t posted on the Open table site at all.
The food was excellent. It’s BYOB which we didn’t expect. There was a 5 piece band, though, that sang and played the American songbook well but a little two loud for dinner conversation. They surprised us with a $10 per person entertainment fee for it. Lots of people do enjoy the restaurant
Excellent food and service. Onion soup top-notch.
My party of four was unaware of the entertainment surcharge of $10 per person, and we almost left, but the manager waived the fee since we did not know about it. I was treating the group and that would have added $40 to the bill, which was already rather expensive. The entertainment was lovely - a 3-piece jazz band.
The menu was excellent- so many choices. Our food was excellent and everyone really enjoyed their dinners. The service was attentive. We had a great evening.
It was a Wednesday night in June. We made a reservation 2 weeks in advance on Open Table. There was no warning that it was a music night. It was very loud and there was $10 per person cover charge. Had we known, we would have gone elsewhere.
We usually enjoy the place, but not this time.
Great food. Ok service. Terrible chairs. If you want to dine at a leisurely pace, they don’t make it easy with the chairs they have. Too uncomfortable...border line painful.
I have been to this restaurant many times. This time was a disappointment. First of all there was music which was too loud so it made it difficult to have a conversation without having to repeat oneself. Second, they charge $10 per person for the music. We don't go to this restaurant for the music so we resent being charged for it. Lastly, the service was not good. They brought pepper for the salad after we finished the salad; the waitress seemed to be clueless. After many years of enjoying this restaurant, we will think twice before returning.
We were pleasantly surprised. Everything quite tasty. Jazz trio were very good. We’ll be back
Our party of 4 had an exceptional meal with a deep menu with many specials offered on a Saturday night. It's BYOB with is always a plus. Each course was prepared with skill. Given the quality of the food, the prices were reasonable. The service was exceptional. Mainstay restaurants need to be supported. Avoid the fad restaurant and patronize the tried and true.
Food was delicious for this BYOB Bistro. Our friend had duck confit as a app. It was great. My wife had soft shell crab app special also great. I had the gulf shrimp it was good. My wife had bouillabaisse she loved it. Our friend and myself had he duck breast very good. Service was slow but picked up as the night wore on. The main problem is the $10 per person entertainment fee. Primarily a method to increase profits
Very crowded & noisy. Had to wait to be seated for our 7:30 reservation , to order after being seated, for food to be served. 3 of our party enjoyed their selections of escargot, mussels & salad& for starters & duck & beef bourgeois for entrees. One of our party ordered a steak medium rare , but was well done except for very middle section which was medium. Our server did offer to have the chef cook another one , but because of the long wait, the offer was declined. I have had many enjoyable meals here, but the wait & overcooked meat detracted from the dining experience.
Our absolute favorite!
Good food. B.Y.O.B. What a treat to find a nice place on The Eastern Main Line with great live music !
We were celebrating a late Mothers Day on the eve of the 22nd. Had a lovely time. Had the pleasure of the owner waiting on our table with the assistance of another server. Meal was great, dessert was even better!
